Merseyside-born Aiden Byrne has come a long way since he shot to fame for being the youngest chef to head up a Michelin-starred kitchen at David
Adlard’s eponymous restaurant in Norwich, in the mid-1990s.
Fast forward 20 years, and Byrne has continued to enjoy a glittering career boasting highlights that include Pied a Terre, the Dorchester Grill,
Roscoff in Belfast, The Commons, restaurant Tom Aikens and Danesfield House, among others.
In 2009, Byrne headed back north and branched out on his own (alongside his wife Sarah) opening the Church Green in Lymm, Cheshire – an opening
that saw them claim the prestigious England Restaurant of the Year from the AA in 2012.
The following year, seduced by the bright lights of the city, Byrne opened Manchester House in a joint venture with North West powerhouse Living
Ventures - “a see-and-be-seen sort of spot”, writes the AA Restaurant Guide, where diners can enjoy “technically outstanding” cuisine.
Byrne’s four-AA-rosette cooking has garnered a reputation for being distinctive, gutsy and “unconventionally traditional”.
His career is steeped in traditionalism, and his flavour combinations stay true to classical marriages. However, he delivers his dishes in unique
and unexpected ways – fine dining, but “not a stereotypical fine dining restaurant” the Made in Great Britain author told the Manchester Evening News, with a focus on making the most of local
ingredients and quality produce from nearby Cheshire butcheries.
Aiden is no stranger to the media scene, he has appeared on BBC’s Great British Menu 4 times in the 10 years that it has been running.
Also appearing on shows such as Masterchef, Sunday Brunch and Saturday Kitchen to name but a few, Aiden is continuously being asked to get
involved in television work which in turn helps to raise his profiler even further.
His position within the industry is well and truly cemented with other household culinary names such as Tom Aikens, Simon Rogan, Simon Rimmer and
He also has a kind heart and helps raise a lot of money for charities such as Brainwave, Hospitality Action, Action against Hunger and
